Frequently Asked Questions

These questions are mainly for the hosted forge offer.

1. No vendor lockin, what does it mean?

At any time you can get a full backup of your data which is compatible with the open source version. This means that if you want to migrate out of the hosted offer, you simply do the following:

  1. Install Indefero on your server.
  2. Import the backup.
  3. Change your DNS record to point to your own server.
  4. Done! No data loss and nobody will even notice the change.

Can all your providers offer such freedom?

2. How to add new users?

If your forge is available with the address http://yourforge.indefero.net, then ask your new users to access the following address: http://yourforge.indefero.net/register/.

You can have as many users/collaborators as you want.

3. How to create a buildbot/continuous integration account?

First, create a simple buildbot account for your buildbot, login into this account and add the public SSH key of your bot or get the extra password for Subversion access. Then, logout and as administrator, add the buildbot account as extra authorized user of your private project. Your buildbot has now read only access to your repository.

Note that you are not limited in the number of accounts, you can easily create different buildbot accounts for different projects.

4. What about data security?

I, Loïc d'Anterroches, use the system to store data related to multi-million dollars projects in the field of oil and gas. I better have to make the system secure, just for my own head!

Basically you have access to the data over SSL (like your bank) and SSH, salted and hashed passwords, daily backup of the data in another datacenter and regular update of the servers.

5. How to get an invoice for my order?

Your invoice will appear after your payment in your order page. It can take a little bit of time as I control manually your order if you are a new customer. This is mainly to check that you did not forget to give your VAT number if you have one. I really do not like invoicing VAT when it is not due...
